We’re a jovial bunch here at Weber Flavors, and there is perhaps no holiday better suited to us than International Pi Day. Celebrated on March 14, Pi Day is an American invention founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw of the Exploratorium museum in San Francisco, with the date 3/14 chosen as those are the first three numbers of the mathematical pi. In years since, various bakeries, restaurants, food companies and similar purveyors cannot resist the the urge to be cheeky and celebrate food pies along with mathematical pi.
At Weber Flavors, we too love both numbers and food, in fact, rarely does a day go by where both are not at the top of our list of to-dos. Whether we’re measuring flavor formulas, computing pounds per gallon on our fresh and fruity liquid flavors or tracking yields on our spray dried powder flavors, numbers are foundational to our daily processes. Additionally, we’re always tasting new flavors and testing existing flavors in everything from ice cream to beverages to nutraceuticals and of course, in baked goods, the latter always prepared with our signature Pure Vanilla Extract.
