How long have you worked in the food industry and what led to you selling flavors? How long have you worked for Weber Flavors?
My food industry career began in 1990 when I was hired by Cookietree Bakeries, Salt Lake City, UT, as an assistant to the Production Manager and to R&D. I soon accepted a promotion as Assistant Purchasing Manager, and then as Purchasing Manager. As I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, I had a desire to get out from behind the desk. I was hired by Weber Flavors as a territory manager in March of 1995. It was one of my life’s best decisions as it has been a rewarding career.
What is your favorite part of the territory you cover?
I have the MOST beautiful territory of all Weber territories. My 10-state territory here in the West includes the Pacific Ocean, red rock deserts, snow-capped peaks, redwood forests, and some of America’s best cities. My territory also contains some of the best people I know. I cherish the close friendships I have with many of my customers.
What’s one fun fact you wish your customers knew about you?
That I would prefer to be a rock star. I have struggled throughout my life to learn to play guitar, bass guitar, and drums. Selling flavors is not a bad gig though. I would get tired of signing so many autographs.
If you could describe your personality as a flavor, what would it be and why?
Mixed Berry. To me mixed berry is made up of a lot of different flavor notes. I am made up of a lot of different flavor notes. I know a little about a lot of things, but not enough to label myself a definitive flavor such as strawberry or blueberry. I don’t expect this to make sense to anyone but me.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Despite not being a coffee drinker, I love coffee flavored ice cream, which must include some chocolate in some form.
